How to add social proof to WordPress and WooCommerce

To add AutoSocialProof to WordPress, paste your campaign pixel into the site header with a header-code plugin such as WPCode, or into your child theme's header. It then loads on every page, including WooCommerce product pages.

You need: Self-hosted WordPress, or WordPress.com on a plan that allows plugins, and your campaign pixel from the AutoSocialProof dashboard.

Paste before </head>
<script defer src="https://app.autosocialproof.com/pixel/YOUR_PIXEL_KEY.js"></script>

Steps

  1. In WordPress admin go to Plugins, Add New, search for "WPCode" (Insert Headers and Footers) and install and activate it.
  2. Open Code Snippets, then Header & Footer.
  3. Paste your AutoSocialProof pixel line into the Header box.
  4. Click Save Changes.
  5. Clear any caching plugin and check a page in a private window.

Show real orders or signups

For WooCommerce orders, go to WooCommerce, Settings, Advanced, Webhooks, add a webhook with the topic "Order created" and your widget's webhook URL as the delivery URL. Check the widget's Data tab after a test order to see the field names, or use an automation tool to send simple fields.

Good to know

If you edit theme files directly, use a child theme so updates do not remove the line.

Caching and optimisation plugins can delay or combine scripts. Exclude the pixel from "delay JavaScript" features if widgets do not appear.

Questions about this guide

Do I need a special WordPress plugin?

Only something that can add code to the header. WPCode is popular, and many themes have a header-scripts box.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes. The pixel loads on WooCommerce pages, and WooCommerce's built-in webhooks can send new orders to a recent sales popup.

Does it work with page builders like Elementor?

Yes, because the pixel loads in the site header, independent of the page builder.

My widget does not show. Why?

Usually a caching or script-delay plugin. Clear the cache and exclude the pixel script from JavaScript delay settings.
