Show proof

Recent sales popup that only shows real orders

A recent sales popup is a small notification that tells visitors someone else just bought, booked or signed up. AutoSocialProof builds each one from a real conversion: an order sent by your store's webhook, a form submission it auto-captures, or a lead from one of its collector widgets.

Who uses a recent sales popup?

  • Online stores that already get orders but sell to cold traffic from ads
  • SaaS and app sites announcing new signups or upgrades
  • Course creators during an open-cart window
  • Local businesses showing fresh bookings

Real data only

Where does the recent sales popup get its data?

Only from sources you connect. Nothing is generated.

If no data has arrived yet, the widget shows its fallback text. Write fallback text that is true for your business.

  1. Webhook

Your store, form tool or automation platform POSTs each order to the widget's webhook URL. Any field you send becomes a {variable} you can use in the text.

  2. Auto capture

Add a rule and the pixel captures matching form submissions on your own pages (checkout, signup, booking) as conversions.

  3. Collector widgets

Pick an email, request or countdown collector in the same campaign as a data source and its submissions feed this popup.

  4. Import

Paste or import past conversions from the widget's Data tab so a new store does not start empty.

  5. Recent sales popup

Shown to visitors with your text, theme and timing.

Which settings does the recent sales popup have?

How do you set up a recent sales popup?

About ten minutes, most of it writing good copy.

The pixel, once per site
<script defer src="https://app.autosocialproof.com/pixel/YOUR_PIXEL_KEY.js"></script>
  1. Add the pixel once

If your site already has the AutoSocialProof pixel for this campaign, skip this. Otherwise paste the one-line script before </head>.

    Already there.

  2. Create a recent sales popup

In your campaign choose "Create notification", then "Conversions". Write the text, pick a theme and a position.

    Looks like my brand.

  3. Connect where the data comes from

Webhook, Auto capture, Collector widgets, Import. Until data arrives, the widget shows the text you wrote, so keep it true.

    Data is flowing.

  4. Pick the moment and the audience

Set the display trigger (delay, scroll, exit intent, time on site, pageviews, inactivity, click, hover or element visible), frequency, pages, devices, countries and languages.

    Product pages, after 6 seconds.

  5. Save, then read the numbers

Impressions, hovers, clicks, CTR and form submissions appear in the widget statistics. Change one thing at a time.

    Clicks are up this week.

What mistakes should you avoid?

Writing fallback text that pretends to be a person. Until real data arrives, the widget shows the text you wrote, so make it true ("New orders show up here").

Showing purchases on the checkout page itself, where they distract instead of reassure.

Rotating ten popups in a row. Three to five spaced out by 8 to 15 seconds reads as natural activity.

Plan note: the recent sales popup is included on every plan, including Free (25 widgets, 100K impressions a month). Compare plans.

Recent sales popup questions

Are the sales in the popup real?

Yes, as long as you connect a real data source. Each popup is built from a stored conversion that came from your webhook, an auto-captured form or a collector widget. If no data exists yet, the widget shows the static text you typed, so write that text honestly.

How do I send Shopify or WooCommerce orders to the popup?

Use the widget's webhook URL. Point your store's order webhook, or an automation tool such as Zapier or Make, at that URL and send fields like name, city and product. Every field becomes a variable you can drop into the popup text.

Can I hide customers' full names?

Yes. You choose which variables appear. Many stores send only a first name, or skip the name and write "Someone in {city}". You control the template, so you control what is shown.

Where does the city come from?

You can send a city field yourself, or use the location the app stores with the conversion. Either way it fills the {city} variable in your template.

Will it slow my site down?

The pixel is one deferred script, so it loads after your page content and does not block rendering. Popups are fetched for the campaign and shown only when their trigger fires.

How often should a sales popup appear?

Start with a delay of 5 to 10 seconds after page load, 8 to 15 seconds between popups and a "once per session" or "all the time" frequency depending on traffic. Then compare click-through in the analytics tab.

Can I show it only on product pages?

Yes. Add page triggers such as "URL contains /products/" or exclude pages such as /checkout. You can also limit by country, device, browser, language and a date window.

Is it legal to show recent sales popups?

Showing genuine activity is fine. Inventing purchases is deceptive under the FTC Act and similar consumer laws elsewhere. AutoSocialProof is built around real data; our acceptable use policy forbids fabricated conversions.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. You can show or hide it separately on screens under and over 768px, pick a position that does not cover your cart button and keep the close button on.
